Sunnybrook Hospital: St. John’s Rehab - Toronto, ON

After a warm reception of One Bench One Tree at Sunnybrook Hospital – Bayview Campus, the hospital foundation staff decided to have another installation at their St. John’s Rehab campus in our first year! This became our third installation of ten in 2021. We would like to thank Sunnybrook Health Sciences for partnering with us early in our journey, which has only just begun!

St. John’s focuses on rehabilitation programs for adults who are recovering from life-changing illnesses and injuries and is the only burn rehab program in Ontario. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Toronto and is a teaching hospital for the next generation of doctors, nurses, and other Frontline Workers.

We continue to work with our excellent supplier and association partners to make this installation a reality. Cedar Springs Landscaping joined us once again for this installation, which took place on September 18, 2021.

The dedication ceremony for this site came only a few days later, on September 22, 2021, and this was on purpose. The Third Wednesday of September is National Tree Day in Canada, which falls during National Forest Week. This holiday serves as a celebration for all Canadians to appreciate the great benefits that trees provide us, including: fresh air, wildlife habitat, shade in hot summer months, and connecting with natures. These benefits should absolutely extend to our Canadian Frontline Workers all over the country, which is part of the reason why we started this initiative.

Thank you, Frontline-Heroes of Toronto for your tireless efforts throughout the pandemic. Your service is appreciated and not forgotten!
